For each tracked coaster, you get a beautifully recreated, interactive 3D model, as well as a detailed analysis based on your ride experience.

Track Every Thrill

Powered by a proprietary sensor fusion algorithm, Coaster Logger leverages your phone’s sensors to capture every twist, turn, and scream. If you’re wearing a compatible smartwatch, the app also tracks your heart rate, providing deeper insight into your thrill levels.

The app automatically generates a detailed analysis of your ride, including 3D animated models with key coaster metrics that can be explored in augmented reality. It estimates track length, ride duration, speed, and g-forces (both lateral and vertical), while also counting and measuring drops, airtime moments, and inversions by angle and duration. Height estimations help reconstruct the full ride profile, and scream intensity is analyzed using microphone-decibel data. Additionally, location details are extracted through reverse-geocoding, providing context and maps to complete your roller coaster experience.

Data Driven Adrenaline

The Coaster Fusion algorithm is a collection of AI models powering the Coaster Logger app. It takes accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, GPS, microphone and heart rate data from smartphones and smartwatches, and produces an accurate 3D digital twin model of each ride experience. From this digital representation, the complete roller coaster track and other key metrics, such as the real height, speed, g-forces are derived. It also estimates roller coaster specific metrics, such as inversions, drops and airtimes.

The Coaster Fusion has been validated against literature values of roller coaster statistics from authoritative sources. Checkout the detailed validation report to learn more about what kind of coasters the algorithm is designed to work for, and how accurate is the reconstruction.

The Real Deal Stats, Every Ride

Coaster Logger does not use any external roller coaster databases for its statistics — everything is measured in the app, specifically for your unique ride experience. Depending on the time of day, seat location, weather, seat distribution and which ride vehicle you are on, the forces and speeds can vary meaningfully.

Safety First

For the highest precision, Coaster Logger's phone app utilizes the advanced sensors found in most modern smartphones. Always place your phone in a secure, zipped pocket during the ride to ensure safety. However, some roller coasters prohibit phones, even when secured. In these cases, you can use Coaster Logger’s companion smartwatch app. For the best accuracy, keep your arm as still as possible—such as holding onto the lap bar—to minimize wrist movement interference and ensure the ride’s true motion is captured.

Your Ride, Your Data

At Coaster Logger, we prioritize your privacy and data security. All ride data is stored locally on your device, giving you full control over your information. You can choose to backup your data or export it at any time. We never share your personal data or ride statistics without your explicit permission. Your thrilling experiences are yours to keep, share, or analyze as you see fit.

Note that this applies to the publication of substantial portions of the analyzed data, such as the full inclusion of a 3D model or comprehensive time series graphs. The mention of summary statistics or the display of data excerpts, provided there is explicit attribution to Coaster Logger, is permissible across any tier.

Currently, Coaster Logger is only available on iOS. The Android version of the app is nearing completion, but due to the more varied nature of hardware, and therefore sensor model in the Android ecosystem, some more time is needed to tune the Coaster Fusion algorithm to ensure the analysis are of acceptable quality consistently.
